June 5: Night Out at the Riverwoods

Utah County Association of REALTORS®  invites members to join us for the second annual “Night Out at the Riverwoods” on June 5th.

The event will start at 5:30 p.m. and will include prizes, a progressive dinner and a private moving screening. This event is designed to help UCAR members experience the community and enjoy dining opportunities

while relaxing at the Riverwoods shopping plaza.

Before the progressive dinner, UCAR members and a date are invited to visit several retail shops in the Riverwoods where they will be able to enter drawings for prizes and giveaways. The Riverwoods has a diverse set of retailers willing to participate for this event.

Last year, many UCAR members participated in this event and were able to network with the community and enjoy a night out on the town.

Tickets are $15/person. Please RSVP here.

CEO Message: Utah is on the Right Track

Turns out that the Pretty Great State is also one of the most Peaceful

Recently the Institute for Economics and Peace published the “Most Peaceful Places to Live,” and Utah came in 5th. The peaceful areas also tended to have the lowest poverty, lowest cases of inequality, and low unemployment rates.

“What is absolutely clear from the Index is that peaceful states perform better across a range of economic, health, education and community factors,” says Steve Killelea, the Institute for Economics & Peace executive chairman. “They have higher high school graduation rates, lower poverty, better access to basic services, higher labor forceparticipation rates, higher life expectancy, and less single-parented families. Even social capital — like volunteerism, civic engagement, trust, and group membership — is higher in more peaceful states.”

Turns out that the Best Choice for Governor, is the Governor
Congratulations to all who recently participated in the Democrat and Republican nominating convention process—both candidates and delegates.
One of the exciting results from the convention is that Governor Gary Herbert received more than 60 percent of the delegates support and is moving on to once again serve us. Turns out, the best choice for governor, is the governor. Congrats to Gary.

His message is one that each of us should know in depth as we interact with our friends, clients, and neighbors: Utah is a great state because of hard work and commitment to proven principles of good government. The delegates recognized that we’re on the right track and that the list of the good things accomplished under Governor Herbert’s leadership is growing:

  • Unemployment has been reduced to 5.8 percent
  • Eliminated or modified 368 burdensome regulations
  • Invested more than $172 million in new funding for education

Thanks for all you do to support Utah, Governor Herbert, and in spreading peace.

Be a Go-Giver: Upcoming COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT HOOPLA

In their book The Go-Giver, Bob Burg and John David Mann discuss ‘The Five Laws of Stratospheric Success’.  The second of these is The Law of Compensation; ‘Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them.’  We have some great opportunities to be ‘Go-Givers’ this year.

Blood Drives: Our first blood drive was pints of fun and we met our goal.  We appreciate everyone who participated.  Every year we will hold 2 blood drives, one in February (hearts, blood etc) and October (blood, vampires etc).  Hopefully those months will be easy to remember so you can plan ahead.

Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build: Our next opportunity is for the ladies! Your Community Involvement Committee is proud to be participating in the Habitat for Humanity “Women Build” during National Women Build Week from May 5th through May 11th. Monday, May 5 is WOMEN IN BUSINESS Day and we would love to flood the build with our Utah County volunteers. Let’s show ‘em how it’s done!

Please sign up here.  No special skills required.  www.habitatuc.org/events/women_build_2012.html.

We invite all Utah County women, 18 and over, to join us for a special building experience, framing a home in Pleasant Grove for a young family with a disabled dad. Construction or home improvement experience is not necessary!  Only $20.00. Registration and details at www.habitatuc.org/events/women_build_2012.html.

Coats for Kids:  Every year our schools end up with Lost and Found bins full of coats, jackets and sweatshirts that are either discarded or donated to Deseret Industries.  Our goal this year is to ask the schools if we can pick up their excess and donate them ourselves directly to organizations serving the families of Utah County; Food and Care Coalition, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Center for Women and Children in Crisis, saving some better items for Sub for Santa.

Here is a list of our schools.  If you can help, please sign up for a school.
* call the school ASAP and ask permission to pick up their excess for UCAR
* ask which day they would want you to come pick them up
* last day of school for Alpine School District is Thursday May 31
* last day of school for Provo School District is Friday May 28
* last day of school for Nebo School District is Friday May 28

Huge thank you in advance for your willingness to serve the people of Utah County.

CEO Message: My.REALTOR.org

If you’ve visited REALTOR.org recently then you may have noticed some big changes, including the new name: My.REALTOR.org. NAR is shifting the focus and adding features that increase your ability to control and personalize your connection to NAR.

For starters, you can customize the homepage with topics and areas that you find most valuable. You simply customize your site with the information and news topics you want. My.REALTOR.org also has awesome features and resources that are now more mobile. NAR used what is called Responsive Web Design and rebuilt REALTOR.org to respond to whatever devise you’re using, no matter the brand.

One reason why the new changes are so REALTOR friendly and a boost to helping your business is that our very own Chris Nichols was invited to serve on a special Task Force that help spur the changes. Chris also serves on the UCAR Executive Committee as the Immediate Past President, on the NAR Public Policy Coordinating Committee and as the Federal Political Coordinator for Senator Mike Lee. Chris is a perfect example of the good that comes from being in the arena and planting a tree today so others can enjoy the shade tomorrow. Visit his blog post about the experience to learn more about the process behind the scenes.

Dale Sinton, NAR CEO, put it this way: “Using My.REALTOR.org will be a remarkable experience for our members. They will be able to instantly access the up-to-the-minute information that is most important to them, in an appealing layout that works anywhere, in any format—PC or mobile device.”

Get started by clicking the “Login to get Started” link; you’ll need your existing realtor.org ID or NDRS number. This will take you to the page where you can start customizing and selecting which topics and categories you’d like to see on YOUR REALTOR.org. New features will be added as NAR receives feedback. Make sure you

click the green tab that says “Help us improve the site” to send feedback and ask questions.

Good luck and welcome to the new My.REALTOR.org

Sincerely,

CEO Message: Learn to Think Like a Millionaire

With the weather and the market improving, it is time to focus on your goals and what you want to accomplish this summer.

A quote I really find useful reads, “The number one reason most people don’t get what they want is that they don’t know what they want.”

This is a wealth principle of T. Harv Eker, the New York Times best-selling author of the book “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” and founder of Peak Potentials.

Eker continues, “If you are not fully, totally, and truly committed to creating wealth, chances are you won’t.”

Another excerpt I love is, “You will be paid in direct proportion to the value you deliver according to the marketplace.” Or, how about this idea: “The only time you are actually growing is when you are uncomfortable.”

Eker has many wealth principles but the final one I will share with you is that “Rich people focus on opportunities. Poor people focus on obstacles.”

If you want to learn how to think rich to get rich, you’re invited by former REALTOR and friend of UCAR, Becky Zabriski, to a FREE event that will teach key financial success strategies that will empower attendees, helping them make more money personally and in their businesses. This 3-day live event, The Millionaire Mind Intensive is taught all over the world and is our cornerstone eventwhere we help people to change their conditioning around money and wealth.

This event will take place  April 19 – 21 at the Salt Palace Convention Center.
100 S. West Temple
9am to 7pm

To RSVP contact Darin Delaney directly at darin@g3worlwide.com or call Becky  at (801) 921-7868
